Decarbonizing the Grid: Power Supply & Demand Management

This session will sketch out an overview of Maryland’s Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) and examine power supply needs now- and anticipated for the future. Panelists will also discuss use strategies, tools, and technologies that can be applied to maximize efficiencies across the grid to meet the needs of all consumers - especially the most vulnerable. How are planned large-scale offshore wind installations projected to create jobs, impact rates, and address electrification supply demands? What role might demand response play in reducing pressure as market demand increases? This session will highlight local projects, current implementation timelines, and national landscape energy production and infrastructure considerations.
